Welcome! My music studio is located in Lake Placid, NY in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. My husband and I relocated here about 20 years ago from the Finger Lakes area in central New York. We are the parents of three, grandparents of six and great-grandparents of 3 who all live in the Finger Lakes/Rochester area. I have been teaching piano for over 33 years to pre-K 4 1/2-year-olds through adults. In addition to my studio teaching, not only do my husband and I travel the North Country, sharing our musical gifts with the North Country Lutheran Parish which has congregations in Canton, Plattsburgh and Saranac Lake, but we also are members of the Adirondack Singers, Saranac Lake, where my husband enjoys vocalizing with our "local singer friends" and I accompany them at the piano. I have also enjoyed being the organist for 3 Community Sings of Handel's Messiah in the Tri-Lakes and accompanist for several Pendragon Evening Musicals. Lastly, I was the accompanist for the Lake Placid Central School's Middle and High School Choruses for 15 years.
The studio curriculum I offer each student varies depending on their age, abilities and needs. My core method books are from Alfred's Music for Little Mozarts and Premier Piano Courses, supplemental theory from Celebrate Theory and ear-training and sight-reading both from the Royal Conservatory of Music - mixed with the Dozen-a-Day Exercise Books, Piano Pronto Series and Supersonics Piano. Piano Maestro and Simply Piano on iPad add the finishing touches to a fun learning time. I use other iPad Apps for note recognition, sight-reading, and keyboard written staff-note relationships. I have many board games and flash card games which have become many of my students' favorites! My Pre-K students learning piano keyboard geography, rhythms, lots of songs and finger games and cute stories featuring Melody and Skip from the Kiddy Keys Program and Dody and Frisco and the keyboard gang from Kinderbach. Lots of learning but oh, so much fun!!
